Made with egg, flour and sugar, and stuffed with a sweet bean paste called anko, or a similar sweet filling, Obanyaki are modeled after the gold coins introduced in Japan during the fourteenth century. This cast iron pan is specially shaped to allow greater ease in cooking and an even golden color to your version of this traditional treat used on special occasions to represent luck and happiness. Patterns in the pan imprint your obanyaki with authentic Japanese designs. Simply make two pancakes using your favorite batter, and place your choice of filling between them! This treat is as easy as it is special. Your obanyaki pan should be hand washed.
